Yield: ~1 cup (240 mL)
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Steep Time: 30–40 minutes
Ingredients
Herbal Extract Blend (~400 mg per tsp equivalent)
1 tbsp dried plantain leaf (Plantago major/lanceolata)
1 tbsp dried mullein leaf (Verbascum thapsus)
1 tbsp dried elecampane root (Inula helenium)
1 tsp dried thyme leaf (Thymus vulgaris)
Essential Oils / Flavoring
1 drop organic eucalyptus leaf essential oil (Eucalyptus globulus)
1 drop organic anise fruit essential oil
1 drop organic lemon peel essential oil
Syrup Base
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup raw honey
Optional: 1 tsp organic lemon juice (for flavor & preservation)
Instructions
Simmer the Herbs: Combine plantain, mullein, elecampane, and thyme in a small saucepan with 1/2 cup water . Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 30–40 minutes.
Strain: Remove from heat and strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean jar. Press gently to extract the herbal goodness.
Add Honey & Essential Oils: Once the liquid has cooled slightly (lukewarm, not hot — to preserve honey’s enzymes), stir in syrup base. Then add your essential oils one drop at a time.
Bottle & Store: Pour into a glass jar or dropper bottle. Keep refrigerated. Shelf life: ~3–4 weeks.
Suggested Dosage
Adults: 1 teaspoon (5 mL) every 2–4 hours as needed.
Children: ½ teaspoon (2–3 mL) every 3–4 hours (consult pediatric guidance).
Notes & Safety
Essential oils: Use sparingly; even 1 drop goes a long way in syrups. Eucalyptus oil should not be used in infants under 10.
Honey: Do not give to children under 1 year.
Customizations: Add a pinch of ginger or a small cinnamon stick during simmering for extra warming action.
May your days be cozy, your immune system resilient.
